Lacock, Wiltshire. The village where photography was born — William Henry Fox Talbot made his first photographic negative here in 1835. The whole village is National Trust, which is why it keeps ending up as a BBC period drama location. I found myself drawn to the layers: terracotta pots and ivy against weathered brick, a Victorian greenhouse, the medieval cottages beneath — all of it preserved.
