Love Valley, Cappadocia. Volcanic tuff towers and formations carved by erosion, but what drew me in were the small persistent things — weathered wooden carts sheltering in shadows, ancient dwellings carved into stone, poplar and olive trees rooting in the sandy valley floor. The formations are monumental, but the valley is inhabited and has been for centuries. Green vegetation clings to pale rock, trails wind through terraced slopes, and the limestone strata are visible in close. Geological scale and human scale existing in the same landscape.
