October at Vieux-Port. The morning fish market at Quai des Belges — vendors, boats being unloaded, café diners. From different vantage points — ground level, framed through archways, elevated views — I saw the layers: ochre and cream buildings reflected in still water, historic structures stacked on the hillside, sailboats crowded in the harbor. And the absurd detail: a vintage white car impossibly laden with cargo on the waterfront, as if the place couldn't quite contain itself. Density and moments that didn't fit.
