Lava fields - Iceland Highlands trek, days five & six
The lava field stretched for two days. It looked barren — dark volcanic rock, expansive ash plains. But the longer you moved through it, the more appeared. Yellow-green moss, rusty mineral stains, geothermal pools, lush valleys tucked between slopes. The isolated huts marked the route. The landscape rewarded close attention.
