Since the 1600s

The pelicans are the thing. A flock of them on the manicured grass, white with orange beaks, the red flower beds running behind them. They have been in St James's Park since the 1600s, donated by a Russian ambassador, and they have outlasted everyone who invited them. One had its wings spread — not for any obvious reason, just a wing spread on a lawn in Westminster.

Two images. That was the take.

They have outlasted everyone who invited them.
